What are the different types of immigration crimes?

• Illegal smuggling: This crime is the transportation or attempted transportation of a person across an international border. Unlike human trafficking, illegal smuggling involves consent between the smuggler and the person being smuggled. The smuggler usually profits from the smuggling.

• Illegal re-entry: Illegal re-entry is a crime that occurs when a person enters or attempts to enter the United States without government approval. Sometimes the person was previously denied admission into the country, had previously been deported, had been excluded from the country or departed the country with an outstanding order for deportation, exclusion or removal. Illegal re-entry can occur even if the person charged with the crime had not previously been subject to deportation.
